Biodiversity Walk May 2016
Wildlife everywhere! But too busy to stay still for my camera. Here are some of the creatures I spotted during a 3-hour walk.
Tiny crawfish in about 3 inches of water.
Finding plenty to eat in the flowing water.
This is my first spotting of an Ebony Jewelwing damselfly here.
Slaty Skimmer, female. This is a new species for the farm.
I am pretty sure this is a Blue Dasher.
Molted exoskeleton of a scorpion.
Ruby-throated hummingbirds are showing up in the greatest numbers we’ve ever had.
Now I’m going to cheat a little bit — I saw these animals on my walk, but didn’t get pictures. These next two pictures are from a few weeks ago.
Northern Cricket frogs are about 1 inch (2.5 cm) long.
Summer Tanager male.
