Nature Photo Challenge #30: The Moon

I don’t often take pictures of the moon.  When I got my current camera, I went outside, took a picture of the moon as it looked from where I was standing, then zoomed in to see what the camera could capture.  It was pretty good! Although apparently I had trouble keeping it in frame and it was cropped funny.  But I checked “moonshots” off my camera bucket list, and have hardly taken any since.

The moon as my eye saw it, January 3, 2015.

The moon as my camera captured it with a 65x zoom, January 3, 2015.

Checking that the zoom still works, June, 2022.

Super Moon, August 2023.  I like seeing how the craters and spots shift a little when the shots are compared.

When Denzil announced “the moon” as a theme, I took a run-of-the-mill picture of the August Super Moon, and then it occurred to me that I should try to be a little more creative.  I like these two shots, of the moon with some lacy clouds, and the moon rising above a cloud bank.

Moon with cloud bank and pines, September, 2023.

Now I will be checking the Photo Challenge post to see what inspiring ideas everyone else came up with!
