Lens-Artists Photo Challenge #75: Nostalgic

I have been wanting to join in with a photo challenge group ever since the WordPress photo challenge stopped, and I am happy to have found the Lens-Artists Challenge.  This week’s theme is “Nostalgic.”

Being from Texas, few things make me as nostalgic as snow.  For us, a little snow makes the whole world stop.  No one knows how to drive in it, so everything shuts down and we get to stay home and relax with our loved ones.  We can indulge in those simple pleasures like wearing sweaters, throwing snowballs, and drinking hot cocoa.

Another place I feel nostalgic is in a greenhouse of a botanical garden —  a little world protected from the outside world for decades or even centuries.  Usually I have the whole place to myself and I can imagine myself back in time.

In December of 2010, I got to visit the Botanical Gardens in Amsterdam during a cold snap, and these two nostalgia sparks came together.  It was like being inside a snow globe. 🙂

The Lens-Artists Challenge is hosted by four different people, (Patti, Ann-Christine, Amy, and Tina) and it is posted every Saturday at noon EST.  If you visit the hosts, you will see wonderful photography!  And you can read about how the challenge works here.
