Ooh! So Creepy!
(I hope you, like me, hear the voice of Joe Flaherty as Count Floyd, host of Monster Chiller Horror Theater, when you read the post title.)
Here, for Halloween, are some of the creepy things I have come across in my walks around the farm. I will spare you the pictures of what I find in owl pellets and coyote scat!
First, the oh-so-innocent looking Spiny Orb Weaver —
One of the common names of this spider is “smiley face spider”! Latin name, Gasteracantha cancriformis.
— until you look at the reverse side!
A blurry picture, but it looks like a scary mask.
Different spider, different pattern – still scary!
And now, some mortal remains…
Who hollowed out this darkling beetle?
The scavenger becomes the scavenged.
I came across this skull beneath a tree – possibly remains from a hawk capture.

These spookey and creepy creatures are amazing – I specially love the spider pics a the top. You could almost do an embroidery of those faces…..food for thought 🙂
When I see them, I think that the Star Wars team used them as inspiration for Darth Vader and Darth Maul! 🙂
